Ola Englund knows what pure metal should sound like. But he also recognizes that there are different flavors that can be great for various purposes. In this video he has picked four of the Mooer Micro Preamp pedals that are great for heavy riffs and all kinds of mind-bending shredding.
He is trying out the 001, 005, 008, 009 that are based on the these amazing amps: Diezel Hagen, Mesa Boogie Mark III, EVH 5150 and an Engl Blackmore. The Mooer micro preamps are sonically accurate digital recreations of the preamp sections of popular tube amplifiers that have been developed by directly analyzing real tube amplifiers using a brand new technology to capture their sound, dynamics and response.
All of the Micro Preamp pedals come complete with dual channels, integrated speaker cabinet simulation and dual operating modes to suit whatever need you may have.
As Ola also recommends, setting up the Micro Preamp pedals in the FX Loop of your amp is generally recommended. But you could use it for recording or straight to a PA system as well due to the built-in speaker cab emulation.
